Tsun Dog - Now on the IIR Artist Roster

We welcome Tsun Dog to the IIR programming on our Rock Channel. "On desperate ground, fight." - the Art of War Tsun Dog is a 5 piece modern rock group comprised of sailors, artists, chefs, a mountain man, and general students of life. Every song tells a story about the larger world with observance to both light, darkness, and personal responsibility. Tsun Dog is a band of storytellers and adventurers. The story of Tsun Dog began in a pretty unlikely place, in a military hospital in San Diego. John Hughes was diagnosed with syringomyelia in 2010, and would soon after be medically retired from the U.S. Navy after 10 years of war. Determined to write and record an album; John returned back to his pre-war home in Boise Idaho to recruit a team of musicians to achieve this goal, and hopefully bring a little light to a world filled with darkness. After a few years of searching, and a bitter battle with his degenerative illness, John recruited local singer/songwriters Kevin Mcdonald (lead vocal) and Michael Sheehan (bass) to create the vision: A relaxed band that could bring original stories and help folks along the way. The band formed in December 2015 as a project of passion and peace. Chris Johnson (drums), and Jessica Rhodes (secondary vocal) came to the project not long after. The band borrows a bit of philosophy from Sun Tsu's the art of war, "to make the best of both strong and weak and to make both serviceable" among others as well as the spirit of several world religions and personal philosophies. Help those you can, but don't let others tear you down. The first year was spent working on material in various studio rooms at the Boise Hive, as well as recording at Osmosis recording in Meridian Idaho. Since it's founding, Tsun Dog has raised money for a couple of local charities; the Vietnam Veterans of America, and "Quest for Freedom", a charity assisting victims of domestic violence . Their first music video was released in early 2018 with a strong message in an attempt to combat suicide and bring awareness to a growing epidemic. The first EP titled "Shadow Dog" was released in 2016, followed by their second EP "Battle for the Sun" in 2017, and third EP "Age of the Dog" in 2018. A full length album is expected to be released sometime in late 2018/2019.
